About Alice’s Wonderland -
Kelly Pidgeon James and Cheryl Sommers, have done one of the most difficult things in the theatrical world, they have crafted an entirely original musical production titled "Alice’s Wonderland," set to make its debut on the Dixon Performing Arts Center stage in June 2025.
In this production, the writers take the beloved concept of Lewis Carroll's classic tale and breathe new life into it by introducing a fresh perspective through the eyes of the original Alice's granddaughter. The narrative explores themes of identity, self-discovery, and the generational impact of adventure and imagination.

In "Alice’s Wonderland," the narrative begins in post-World War I London, where the new Alice and her sister move back into their family estate to live with their grandmother. This setting provides a rich backdrop, reflecting the societal changes and emotional upheaval of the time. The war has left its mark on the world, and as Alice navigates her new reality, she yearns for adventure and escape.

When she follows the white rabbit into Wonderland, Alice finds herself in a fantastical realm that mirrors her own struggles and desires. Each character she encounters serves as a reflection of her internal journey—some challenge her perceptions, while others inspire her to embrace her individuality.

With a diverse cast of quirky characters, including new faces alongside familiar favorites, the musical offers a rich blend of humor, heart, and valuable life lessons. Each character plays a crucial role in guiding Alice through her journey, helping her navigate the complexities of her identity and the world around her.

The original songs written by Kelly Pidgeon James and with musical arrangements by Kyle Jackson, this production features a lively score that combines catchy melodies with thought-provoking lyrics, ensuring that audiences of all ages will be entertained and inspired. The stunning set design and imaginative costumes will bring the enchanting realm of Wonderland to life, creating a visually captivating experience.

As the premiere date approaches, excitement is building in the Dixon community. "Alice’s Wonderland" not only showcases the creative talents of its writers but also highlights the vibrant local arts scene. Audiences can look forward to an unforgettable theatrical experience that invites them to rediscover the magic of Wonderland through a contemporary lens. Mark your calendars for June 2025, and get ready for a journey that promises to be both whimsical and meaningful!
