Volunteer as an Usher
Are you passionate about theater? Want to enjoy our shows for free while lending a helping hand? Join us as an usher and become a vital part of Dixon Community Theater!
What You'll Do:
-Greet patrons and hand out programs before the show.
-Assist audience members with finding facilities during intermission.
-Help organize the venue after the performance.
When:
-Arrive one hour before curtain time at the venue.
-Check in with the house manager for a quick training session and your instructions.
Dress Code:
-Wear black attire. Black denim jeans are fine, but they must be clean, solid black, and free of any holes or tears.
-Sneakers or tennis shoes are not allowed.
Why Volunteer:
-Enjoy the performance on the house as a thank you for your service!
Usher Guidelines and Expectations
-Arrival: Be at the venue one full hour before the show starts (e.g., if the show starts at 7:00 pm, arrive by 6:00 pm). Check in with the house manager upon arrival.
-Dress Code: All black attire.
-Professional Conduct: No gum chewing or cell phone use during the event.
-Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for up to 45 minutes at a time.
-Training: Receive brief instructions on safety practices, meet the box office staff, get an overview of the performance, and familiarize yourself with the seating arrangement.
Duties:
-Take tickets, hand out programs, and assist with will-call tickets.
-Help at the concession stand if needed.
-During intermission, ensure no audience members try to enter the stage area.
-Assist latecomers to find seats discreetly without disrupting the performance.
-After the show, guide patrons to the meeting area to wait for performers.
-Help clean the audience area and return reusable programs.
-Commitment: Stay for the entire performance and assist until the venue is cleared and organized.
